Willow S. Wilhelm, 78, of Wooster, formerly of Massillon, passed away quietly, following a lengthy illness, on Saturday afternoon, July 8, 2023. Reunited with her husband, Ralph, they’re beginning a new journey together again! Born in Massillon, December 22, 1944, a daughter to the late William and Ellen (Cecil) Herman, Willow attended Washington High School. She returned to the classroom and completed her GED in 1994. She worked briefly outside of home for RW Screw Products in Massillon, and Pepco Electrical Supply in Canal Fulton, but the best job she ever had, the only one she ever wanted, was as the homemaker for her husband and family. A devoted wife and a loving and supportive mom and grandma, Willow placed her family at the center of her life. She created and kept a safe and loving home full of happy memories, where her door and her heart were always open. She loved spending her leisure time on or near the water. Boating and fishing were her favorite pastimes. She found pleasure and relaxation in the creativity and artistry of crocheting, completing several cherished pieces for her family and others. And she enjoyed playing BINGO!
Predeceased by her parents; her husband, Ralph E. Wilhelm; and a sister, Carol Herman Taylor; Willow is survived by her daughter, Laura S. (Michael) Watkins, of Wooster, and son, William R. Wilhelm, of Massillon; granddaughter, Brandy M. Williams, also of Wooster; and sisters, Mrs. Nancy Mack, of Florida, and Mrs. Linda Raymond, of North Canton. A grandkitty, “Gypsey,” also survives.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends will mark Willow’s passing with a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Stanwood Cemetery. Pastor Chris Wheeler will officiate, and Willow and Ralph will be placed into rest together. There are no calling hours. The family extended their sincere thanks to the very professional staff of Life Care Hospice and West View Healthy Living & Skilled Nursing Facility for the dedicated care shown to Willow. They have also suggested memorial contributions in her name be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Hospitals for Children or Wayne County Humane Society. Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon has been entrusted with arrangements. Your memories and condolences are always welcome and may be added to her online guestbook.
