Wesley Griffith Obituary

Wesley A. Griffith, 84, of Navarre, formerly of Massillon, passed away peacefully, while surrounded by his family, Saturday afternoon, February 22, 2025.  Born in Canton, May 20, 1940, a son to the late Thurman and Mary (Skridon) Griffith, Wes graduated from Canton McKinley High School with the Class of 1958.  Most of his professional career was spent in law enforcement, as a uniformed officer with the Perry Township Police Department and the Stark County Sherriff’s Office.  He retired after serving as a police officer at Heartland Behavioral Healthcare in Massillon.

Wes had also served honorably for several years with the Ohio Air National Guard.

A devoted husband and a loving and supportive dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa, he loved every minute he spent with his family.  He umpired slo-pitch softball for a number of years and was honored with induction into the Ohio Softball Hall of Fame.  He loved classic cars and ‘60’s and ‘70’s muscle cars – owned a few, sold a few, but kept and pampered a 1937 Plymouth coupe.  His professional and social memberships included the Fraternal Order of Police and the Loyal Order of Moose.

Predeceased by his mom and dad, his brother, Allan, and his dear wife, Mary Lea Webber Griffith; Wes is survived by his sons, Kevin B. (Angela) Griffith and Eric S. (April) Griffith; three granddaughters, and six great-grandchildren, all of the area; and his brothers, Jack Griffith, of Florida, David Griffith, of Cleveland, and Kenny Griffith, of Canton.  Also surviving is his very dear and treasured friend of more than 25 years, Shari Rudolph, of Canal Fulton.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.  No formal services will be held but the family will join in a private committal at a later date.  Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home has been entrusted with the immediate arrangements.  Your memories and condolences are always welcome and may be added here to Wes’ on-line guestbook.
