Twila Beatrice (Notter) Smitley

Twila B. Smitley, 94, of Massillon, a beloved wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister and aunt, passed away Saturday evening, April 10, 2021.  Born in Canton, May 20, 1926, a daughter to the late Louis and Emma (Freitag) Notter, Twila graduated from the former Canton Lincoln High School with the Class of 1944.  She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Canton Christadelphian Ecclesia.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years, James W. Smitley, Sr., who died May 8, 2009; son, James Jr., on November 21, 2010, and brother, Raymond Notter; Twila is survived by her grandsons, James III, Justin and Joshua; great-grandchildren, Ian and Brianna; her niece Shirley (Craig) Stambaugh and nephew, Randy Notter.  Twila will be deeply missed by those she loved and who loved her in return.

A private funeral service will be conducted at 11:00, preceded by one hour of visitation, from 10-11:00, Thursday morning, April 15, at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon.  Robert Edwards of Canton Christadelphian Ecclesia will officiate, and burial will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park.
