Terry L. Davenport, 79, of Massillon, passed away early Tuesday morning, December 15, 2020. Born in Massillon, February 12, 1941, a son to the late Clifford and Frances (Jorden) Davenport, Terry graduated from Washington High School with the Class of 1959. He served honorably in the US Army, earning the rank of Sp4C and retired after 30 years as a communications technician with the Ohio Edison Company. He invested several years as an adult leader with the Boy Scouts, working with the Buckeye Council. He earned a fifth-year Pipestone Award and a bronze maple leaf as a John Burroughs Naturalist. He also enjoyed photography and woodworking. Terry enjoyed his retirement and looked forward to wintering in Florida – eventually moving there for several years before returning to Massillon in 2014. While he made friends easily and enjoyed their good company, his wife and family were always closest to his heart.
Predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Bonnie L. (Sickman) Davenport; daughter, Tracey Davenport and sisters, Patricia Davenport Osborne and Nancy Davenport Link; Terry is survived by his wife, Rosemary (Rader) Davenport, of the home; son Scott (Carla) Davenport, of Akron; grandsons, Evan and Eric Davenport, also of Akron and a special nephew, Todd (Lucia) Osborne, of Massillon.
The family will mark Terry’s passing with a private service and military honors conducted at the graveside Monday afternoon at Brookfield Cemetery.
They have also suggested memorial contributions made to the Buckeye Council Boy Scouts of America, Hoover Scout Service Center, 2301 – 13th Street NW, Canton, Ohio 44708.
