Sharon McCray Obituary

Sharon L. McCray, 68, of Massillon, following a period of declining health, passed away peacefully, with her family at her side, early Wednesday morning, January 13, 2021.  Born in Massillon, December 16, 1952, a daughter to Charles and the late Velma (Schrickel) Hauner, Sharon graduated from Washington High School with the Class of 1971.  She was a certified medical assistant and worked as a triage specialist with Omni Orthopedics.  A loving and devoted mom and grandma, sister and friend, Sharon was at her best when she was doing for others.  Her family and extended family – that included her workmates at Omni, and an assortment of four-legged family, was always at the center of her life.  She was a hard worker, caring and giving, and she loved to have fun.  She found pleasure working in her yard, enjoyed handcrafts and catching up on her favorite television shows like “Pit Bulls and Parolees.”  She had a special place in her heart for animals and was active in and supportive of several rescue initiatives.

Predeceased by her mother; Sharon is survived by her daughter, Stacy K. Hauner and granddaughter, Jade Whitmer, both of Canton; her father, Charles (Gloria) Hauner; brother, Larry (Deanna) Hauner, of North Canton; niece, Katelyn and nephew, Jacob Hauner, also of North Canton; very special friends, Krista, Kady and Alexis Chipman; her former husband, Ted (and “wife-in-law,” Kim) Lebo; her fur babies, Brutus, Lizzie and Rosa; and granddog, Zuri.

No formal services are planned; however, family and friends will gather for an informal “open house” to exchange condolences and share memories on Sunday afternoon, January 24, 2021, from 4-5:00 p.m., at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon.  Face coverings are essential and social distancing protocols will be observed.  The family extends their sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and support staff of Aultman Hospital Memorial 4 South for the compassionate care Sharon received.  They’ve also suggested memorial contributions in her name made to Villalobos Rescue Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
