Ruth Annette (Glass) Schumacher

Ruth A. Schumacher, 89, of Navarre, passed away gently, early Sunday morning, October 5, 2025.  Born May 29, 1936, in Canton, a daughter to the late Walter and Lois (Schneider) Glass, Ruth graduated from Canton Lincoln High School with the Class of 1954.  She excelled there in the industrial arts vocational program. Her work history included time spent as a draftsperson with the Timken Company Bearing Division, and as a secretary with Perry Local Schools, Redicon, and Canton Local Schools, finally retiring from the Transportation Scheduling Office at age 80!

A life member of Richville United Church of Christ, Ruth loved and served her faith community as a Sunday school teacher beginning at age 16.  She sang in the choir and worked closely with the COG youth group.

In her leisure time, Ruth loved the outdoors, camping and fishing – especially family vacation trips to Canada, and was an accomplished traveler and an intrepid road warrior.  She also enjoyed drawing, gardening, and canning.  Her memberships included the Order of the Eastern Star, Golden Charms and Richville VFD Auxiliary.

Predeceased by her parents, her husband, Thomas A. Schumacher, son, Donald Lee Schumacher, and sister, JoAnn Bulso; Ruth is survived by her children, Sandy (Jeff) Sibert, of Canal Fulton, Jackie (Ron) Schlemmer, of Canton, and David (Jennifer) Schumacher, of Navarre; grandchildren, Jennifer (Andrew) Kuhlman and Brent (Kaitlyn) Sibert, Derek and William Schumacher, and Ryan Schlemmer; great-grandchildren, Vincent, Markus, Madelyn, and Hadley.  Also surviving are her sister, Mrs. Karen Provost and brother, Lynne (Ann) Glass.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Richville UCC in Navarre.  Pastor Will Stuart will officiate, and burial will follow at Union Lawn Cemetery in Navarre.  The family will receive condolences beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the church.  Memorial contributions are encouraged to advance the mission and ministry of Richville UCC.  Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon has been entrusted with arrangements.  Your memories and condolences are always welcome and may be added here to Ruth’s on-line guestbook.
