Richard A. Noftsinger, 82, of Canal Fulton, formerly of Navarre, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of his home, late Sunday evening, November 26, 2023. Born in Massillon, December 27, 1940, a son to the late Laverne and Margaret (Evanovich) Noftsinger, Rich graduated from the former Navarre High School with the Class of 1958. An honorably discharged veteran of the US Air Force, he was serving in the Strategic Air Command (SAC) during the Cuban Missile Crisis. And following 32 years of service as a test engineer, he retired from Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems, formerly Goodyear Aerospace. Rich had been an active member of Fohl Memorial United Methodist Church – now Living Grace Christian Church in Navarre. A devoted husband and a loving and supportive dad, grandpa and great-grandpa, Rich placed his wife and daughters – and extended family at the center of his life. With quiet faith, patience, and humility, he was a responsible steward of all he had been given. He was the go-to guy when anything needed fixing, and in his leisure time enjoyed woodworking and working in the yard.
Predeceased by his parents; a daughter, Karol Lynn Noftsinger Glick; and his sister, Marita Noftsinger Hauenstein; Rich is survived by his wife, Veryl A. (Grosskreutz) Noftsinger, of the home; daughters, Karen Noftsinger (and Michelle James), of Canal Fulton – who have shared their home with Veryl and Rich, Kim (Mike) Weber, of Clemmons, North Carolina, and Kathy (Don) Swank, of Canton; grandchildren, Rachael (Ryan) Youngblood and Joshua Swank; a great-granddaughter, Elliot Youngblood; and his brother, Vince Noftsinger, also of Canton.
A memorial celebration of Rich’s life will be conducted at 6:00 Thursday evening, November 30, 2023, at Living Grace Christian Church. Pastor Carl Kandel will officiate. The family will receive condolences one hour prior to the service, from 5-6:00 p.m. in the church. Military honors will close the service. A private burial will follow on Friday.
The family has suggested that in lieu of flowers, you would consider a memorial donation to the Alzheimer’s Association. Your memories and condolences are always welcome and may be added to Rich’s on-line guestbook – the tribute wall here on the website.
