Randy C. Smith, 56, of Navarre, passed away at his residence Saturday morning, January 17, 2026, following a lengthy period of declining health. Born in Seattle, Washington, July 1, 1969, a son to the late Gordon and Brenda (Kaintz) Smith, Randy was a born adventurer and self-styled Gypsie, known within the family as their “Uncle Buck.” He worked in Alaska for several years as a commercial fisherman on the waters of the north Pacific. He loved Alaska but reluctantly returned to Ohio about ten years ago. Most recently he’d worked as a finisher at A.R.E. Truck Cap in Massillon.
Known for his skills in many trades and entertaining tales of his life experiences, Randy still preferred a quiet, private lifestyle. He loved his family and loved to joke and tease but always with a wink and a twinkle in his eye.
Predeceased by his mom and dad and his brother Rick, Randy is survived by his sister, Tammie (Marty) Hattery, of Navarre – who shared their home with him; six nephews and eight great-nieces and -nephews.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and the family is planning a private memorial. Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon has been entrusted with immediate arrangements. Your memories and condolences are always welcome and may be added here to Randy’s on-line guestbook.
