Ralph Eugene "Sonny" Wilhelm, Jr.

Ralph Eugene “Sonny” Wilhelm, Jr., 80, of Dalton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Thursday morning, May 20, 2021.  Born in Massillon, August 25, 1940, to the late Ralph E. and Dorothy H. (Ziegelhofer) Wilhelm, Sr., Sonny married the love of his life, Willow S. Herman, on August 11, 1962.  They’ve spent 58 adventurous years together, living most of their lives in Massillon, before moving to Dalton in 1987.

A hard and dedicated worker, Ralph worked at Central States Can Co. for 27 years and for another 10 years after the company changed their name to Crown Cork and Seal. He loved photography in his younger years and enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, and boating with his family and friends. He also loved spending time with his many fur babies.

Preceded in death by his parents; several aunts and uncles; brothers-in-law; a sister-in-law, Carol Taylor, and many fur babies; Ralph is survived by his wife, Willow; his son, William R. Wilhelm, daughter, Laura S. (Michael) Watkins; grand-daughter, Brandy M. Williams; their beloved 4-legged child, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Nadia Emerson; a great-grand kitty, Gypsey; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Graveside services will be held at a later date.  Friends and family will gather to receive condolences and share memories and stories in a Celebration of Ralph’s life on Saturday, June 5, 2021, from 5-7:00 p.m. at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon.  The family has suggested memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Hospitals for Children, or the Wayne County Humane Society.  Your memories and condolences are always welcome and may be added to our on-line guestbook at www.atkinsonfeucht.com.
