Peggy Rae Hollinger, 87, of Massillon, passed away peacefully, Tuesday morning, September 15, 2020. Born October 31, 1932, in Quaker City, Ohio, a daughter to the late Earl and Dorothy (Starr) Long, Peggy graduated from Batesville High School where she was a cheerleader. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma and sister, Peggy was a homemaker. She worked briefly as a home health aide for the former Massillon Community Hospital and later as an independent in-home caregiver. A faithful member of Massillon Baptist Temple, Peggy enjoyed gardening, fishing and camping, making the rounds at garage sales and shopping for antiques. She also found time to serve as a volunteer with the area hospitals and with Meals on Wheels of Stark and Wayne Counties.
Preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Herbert Borton; sons, Barry and Jerry Borton and brothers, Wayne, Jennings, Donald and Charles Long; Peggy is survived by her husband of 37 years, Robert W. Hollinger, of the home; children, Traci M. Nash, of Massillon, Connie L. (Glenn) Marthey, of Dalton, Barbara (Steven) Gleason, of Perry Township, Scott (Amy) Borton, of Doylestown and Monty (Nancy) Borton, also of Dalton; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Herman (Lydia) Long, of Barnesville and Billy (Susie) Long, of Massillon and a large extended family.
Honoring her wishes, family and friends will mark Peggy’s passing with a graveside service conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday morning, September 18, 2020, at Brookfield Cemetery in Massillon. Dr. Cecil Thayer, pastor of Massillon Baptist Temple will officiate.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon.
