Paul Fair Obituary

Paul Jerry “Jake” Fair, age 81, passed away peacefully at Country Lawn Nursing Home in Navarre, Ohio, on February 20, 2018.  Born in Navarre, April 19, 1936, to the late Bula and Paul Fair, Jerry graduated from the former Navarre High School with the Class of 1954, and from Ohio University with a degree in commerce in 1961.  He later completed a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota.  Jerry served in the Ohio Army National Guard from 1958 to 1963.  He worked for The Hoover Company, beginning his career in the home office in North Canton in 1963, before moving to Minneapolis where he worked as the Branch Office Manager from 1964-1972. He then worked in the field of Rehabilitation Counseling, first in Minnesota, later in Seattle, Washington. He also served as President, Washington Coalition of Citizens with Disabilities from 1981-1988.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lee Fair and sisters, Dorothy McAfee, Myra Dutton, and Wanda Brechbuhler. He is survived by his sister, Pauline Kasserman and many nieces and nephews. The family invites donations in Jerry’s name to The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis (www.themiamiproject.org) or P.O. Many thanks to the Otterbein United Methodist Church community for their support during the last 10 months and a very special thanks to Dave Hanneman for his friendship and helping hands as Jerry’s neighbor in Seattle for 40 years.  Services in Seattle will be conducted at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements in Navarre were entrusted to Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home.
