Norma L. Smith, 93, of Massillon, beloved mom, grandma and great-grandma, passed away peacefully, Monday evening, July 4, 2022. Born December 12, 1928, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, a daughter to the late Adam and Emma Miller, Norma spent most of her life in Massillon and graduated from Washington High School with the Class of 1947. Norma was very much a full-time mom and homemaker while her children were growing up. She created a safe and loving place for them and their friends from the neighborhood and from school who also, fondly, called Norma “mom.” She was active in PTA and a multi-gallon blood donor for the Red Cross. Working on and off outside the home as her family grew, she worked at MCA Sign Co., at Koonies, Kendall Tavern and Pokey’s Pub.
Predeceased by her parents; husbands, Ralph Pauli and Fernon Smith; and nine siblings; Norma is survived by her children, Diana Buckles, of Massillon, Deborah Bond, of Canton, Denise (Jerry) Nauer, of Arizona, Dawn Waltz, of Enterprise, Alabama, Darlene (Mike) Weber, of Florida and David (Donna) Pauli, of Texas. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive as well as her brother, Robert (Lori) Miller, also of Massillon.
The family will receive condolences on Friday, July 8, 2022, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon. A private funeral and burial will follow. The family has also suggested memorial contributions to advance the mission and ministry of the Massillon Salvation Army. Your memories and condolences are always welcome and may be added to our on-line guestbook at www.atkinsonfeucht.com.
