Mildred Millar Obituary

Mildred Ilene Millar, 90, of Massillon, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family, early Wednesday morning, September 1, 2021.  Born May 12, 1931, in Beatrice, West Virginia, a daughter to the late Olin and Ona (Elliot) Border, the family relocated to Massillon in time for Millie to graduate from Washington High School with the Class of 1950.  While in high school she played trumpet in the Tiger “Swing” Band.

A devoted wife and a loving and supportive mom, grandma, great-grandma and great-great-grandma, Millie also worked outside of her busy home as a bus driver for Tuslaw Local Schools and for Stark DD, providing safe transportation to hundreds of children and young adults to and from their destinations.  An undeniably hard worker, she loved being a wife and mom and placed her husband and her children – and a growing extended family at the center of her life.  She was always there!  She found joy and relaxation in doing for others and renewed her own sense of peace and inner strength with the faith community of Newcomer’s Chapel of Pigeon Run United Methodist Church.

Predeceased by her parents; her husband, Robert A. Millar; her brother, Charles Border and sister, Retta Border Shackle; Millie is survived by her children, Howard D. (Linda) Millar, of Massillon, Glenn A. Millar, of North Lawrence, Connie (Eugene) Hines, of Lewisville, Ohio, Bobbi L. (Mark) Richardson, also of Massillon, and Jeff A. Millar, of Barnesville, Ohio.  Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters; her sister, Delores Border Gindlesberger; brother, George Border, and many treasured relatives, friends, and neighbors.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no calling hours.  Pastor Kim Vanoster of Newcomer’s Chapel will join the family for a private service and committal in East Union Lawn Cemetery.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon.  Your memories and condolences are always welcome and may be added to our on-line guestbook at www.atkinsonfeucht.com.
