Mary A. (Allen) Reese

Mary A. Reese, following a long and blessed life and with her earthly journey now complete, entered serenely into eternity on Thursday afternoon, March 29, 2018.  Born in Findlay, Ohio, September 26, 1917, a daughter to the late William F. and Hilda H. (Remdt) Allen, Mary graduated from Akron Garfield High School with the Class of 1935.  She is also a graduate of Hammel Actual Business College and had attended both Findlay University and Malone University.  During World War II she worked as a civilian secretary for the Army Corps of Engineers.  Mary and her late husband Ray were married July 7, 1940, and shared 54 years together prior to his passing in 1994.  Together they traveled extensively for business and at their leisure and she never lost her zest for adventure and discovery.  Mary and Ray called several places “home” during their married life, but Mary found great contentment and a wonderful circle of friends in the community of the Canton Christian Home where she had been a resident since 2014.  She spoke of her life as, “Wonderful, happy and blessed with the next stop - heaven.  I can hardly wait!”
Predeceased by her parents; her husband, Raymond H. Reese; sister Helen Conley and brother, James Allen; Mary is survived by her nephew, Tim Conley, niece, Janice Fyffe and great-nephew, James Fyffe; her treasured caregiver, Peg Bailey and her dear friends from CCH.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at First Friends Church in Canton.  Pastor Stan Hinshaw will officiate and a private burial will follow at Benton Ridge Cemetery, near Findlay, in Hancock County, Ohio.  Family and friends will gather and exchange condolences one hour prior to the service, from 11-12:00, Wednesday morning in the church.  Memorial contributions in Mary’s name made in care of Malone University or First Friends Church would be humbly encouraged and sincerely appreciated.
