Mark A. Miller, 53, of Massillon, passed away unexpectedly, early Tuesday afternoon, October 17, 2023. He had been under his doctors’ care for some time. Born in Massillon, June 21, 1970, a son to the late Lawrence and Joetta (Prine) Miller, Mark graduated from Perry High School with the Class of 1988.
He served proudly and honorably in the U.S. Navy, enlisting right out of high school and completing more than sixteen years of active and reserve duty. His work in electronics and with computers during his time in the service became one of several hobbies he pursued after returning to civilian life. Being away from home for extended deployments, Mark came to value the time he spent with his family, and deeply enjoyed the time they spent together – including especially, an extended family he called his own. He was currently employed with Sterlite Corporation in Massillon, working in several different areas, most recently in plant maintenance. In his leisure time he loved to fish and spent many enjoyable hours adding custom touches to his Ford F-150.
Predeceased by his parents, Mark is survived by his sister, Connie L. Miller, of Perry Township, and his nephew, Jacob Miller, of Parma, Ohio, with whom he shared a very special relationship as a father-figure and mentor. Also surviving are a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Honoring Mark’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and no formal services are planned. The family will gather to share stories and receive condolences at an open house visitation celebrating Mark’s life on Tuesday afternoon, October 24, 2023, from 4-6:00 p.m. at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon. Military honors will close the gathering and a private inurnment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery will follow. Your memories and condolences are always welcome and may be added to his on-line guestbook at www.atkinsonfeucht.com.
