Mardella E. “Marty” Beitel, 85, of Massillon, with her family gathered to her side, passed away peacefully, in the early morning of Sunday, May 21, 2023. Born November 5, 1937, in Holmes County, a daughter to the late Olen and Lena (Kaser) Feller, Marty graduated from the former Beach City High School with the Class of 1955. She was a homemaker but had often worked outside of home, waitressing for a time at the former Frieg’s Restaurant, and working behind the counter at the former Quality Cleaners were just a few of the things she did to help her family.. A devoted wife and a loving and supportive mom, grandma and great-grandma, Marty placed her husband and her family at the center of her life. She had been a faithful member of Massillon Baptist Temple but more recently, due to health reasons, she attended United Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed keeping busy; planning and preparing family get-togethers, especially for holidays and birthdays. In her leisure time she loved to read.
Predeceased by her parents; her husband, William R. Beitel; sons, Richard and William; a great-granddaughter, Kassandra Yarnell; daughters-in-law, Marsha and Sherry Beitel; and three brothers; Marty is survived by her sons, Donald and Jeffrey (Janice) Beitel, all of Massillon; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two step-daughters, Mrs. Pauline Swinford and Mrs. Irene Jackson; and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at the noon hour on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon. Pastor Randy Keffer will officiate, and a private burial will follow. The family will receive condolences for 30 minutes prior to the service, from 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Please consider Marty’s wish that memorial contributions be made to enrich her faith community and advance the mission and ministry of United Freewill Baptist Church, 145 – 26th Street NW, Massillon, Ohio 44647.
