Louis Elliott Obituary

Louis J. Elliott, 82, of Massillon, was taken to be with his Heavenly Father, and reunited with his beloved wife, Judy, on Friday morning, June 21, 2024.  Born in Bellaire, Belmont County, Ohio, July 21, 1941, a son to the late Harry and Ann (Velkovich) Elliott, Lou was a 1959 graduate of Massillon Washington High School and of Capital University in 1987.

Lou was a caring and loving husband and father who always put his family’s well- being first.  All of his friends and co-workers will remember Lou for his efforts at trying to maintain a hard exterior, even though he was a very soft-hearted person.  He had an active interest in the American Civil War and over the past thirty years had completed several thorough and extensive studies and detailed readings on the subject.

During his 47-year career in Quality Assurance Nondestructive Testing with ten major corporations in five different states, he obtained professional recognition as a NDT Level III Engineer, and his 45-year membership in the American Society for Nondestructive Testing are each noteworthy.  He had been a “Fellow” of the Society since 1984, and his legacy was his willingness to accept difficult assignments and complete them on time.

In addition to his parents, and his brother, Richard F. Elliott, Lou was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Judith, on October 27, 2007.  He will be missed by his daughter, Sharon (Richard) Campbell, of Navarre, and sons, Jeffrey L. (Danielle) Elliott, of Florida, and Michael D. (Donna) Elliott, of North Carolina; his most loved grandchildren, Brooke M. Elliott, Randall L. Knerr, Megan A. Lambert, Michael E. Elliott, Jeffrey Landon Elliott and Jaidee L. Elliott.  Also surviving is his sister, Kathryn (Joseph) Nardo.

Lou’s family and friends will join Fr. Robert Lanterman to celebrate a Funeral Mass at Divine Mercy Parish at St. Mary’s at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2024.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.  The family will receive condolences on Tuesday evening, June 25, from 5-7:00 p.m. at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon.  They also extend a special “thank you” to Lou’s neighbors for their unfailing care, concern, and friendship over the past several years.

Your memories and condolences are always welcome and may be added here to Lou’s on-line guestbook.
