Lloyd Hensel Obituary

Lloyd E. Hensel, 85, of Navarre, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, January 17, 2023.  Born in Massillon, August 31, 1937, a son to the late Lloyd J. and Abbie (Reed) Hensel, Lloyd was an honorably discharged veteran of the US Army, and retired after 22 years of service as a brakeman with Norfolk & Western and Norfolk & Southern Railroad, working at the Brewster yard.  Lloyd liked keeping busy, so following an early retirement from the railroad, he continued working in his own landscaping service, and in plant security for Fleming Foods, until finally retiring in 2007.  Before entering the service, he was a volunteer firefighter with the former Bethlehem Township Department.  He had also done other safety service work later in life, as a member of Stark County Alert REACT.

A life member of the St. Clement Campus of Holy family Parish in Navarre, Lloyd also held membership in the Knights of Columbus, Msgr. A.P. Boeff Council.

A devoted, hard-working husband and a loving and supportive dad, Lloyd saw to the needs of his family; found comfort in his Catholic faith; and in his leisure time, enjoyed classic cars, muscle cars, gardening, wood carving and listening to music from the big band era and the ‘50’s.

Predeceased by his parents; and sisters, Carrie Hudson, and Emma Evey; Lloyd is survived by his wife, Emily A. (Street) Hensel, and son, James C.W. “Billy” Hensel, both of the home.  Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Cremation has taken place.  Fr. Edward Beneleit will join with Lloyd’s family and friends to celebrate his life with a Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Holy Family Parish, Navarre.  Burial with military honors in the parish cemetery will follow at a later date.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Navarre.  Your memories and condolences are always welcome and may be added to our on-line guestbook at www.atkinsonfeucht.com.
