Linda E. Gehrlich, 81, of Massillon, passed away quietly Tuesday evening, September 14, 2021, following a period of declining health. Born in Massillon, August 11, 1940, a daughter to the late Emil and Glenna (Kemp) Welty, Linda graduated from Jackson Memorial High School with the Class of 1958. A beloved wife, sister and aunt, she retired following 20 years of service from Manor Care Skilled Nursing Center where she had worked as a cook. She did, in fact, enjoy cooking for her family and in her leisure time also liked to read, work on puzzles and craft projects, and could always make time for a few hands of the card game called, “Quiddler.”
Predeceased by her parents; Linda is survived by her husband, Edward W. "Bill" Gerhlich, Jr., of the home; sisters, Susan Welty and Gail (Robert) Funderburk, all of the area, and Carole (Larry) Snodgrass, of Sebring, Ohio. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews and great-great-nieces and -nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 20, 2021, at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon. Rev. Larry Snodgrass, Linda’s brother-in-law, will officiate, and burial will follow in Massillon Cemetery. The family will receive condolences for one hour prior to the service on Monday, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., in the funeral home.
