Kevin Murphy Obituary

Kevin Patrick Murphy, 54, of Dalton, passed away unexpectedly at his home, early Friday morning, July 16, 2021.  Born August 23, 1966, in Southfield, Michigan, a son to Michael and Grace (Mather) Murphy, Kevin graduated from Medina High School with the Class of 1984, and briefly attended Bowling Green State University.  He was currently employed as a medical data analyst for Kepro Healthcare Systems in Independence, Ohio.

A loving husband and a devoted dad and “Poppi,” Kevin placed his wife and family at the center of his life.  Kevin had a great capacity for learning and a gift for comprehending and applying what he learned whether in his professional career or in his personal life.  He coached and supported his son and daughters in each of their athletic and arts-related pursuits after reading and teaching himself what he needed to know to make each of them successful.  When he discovered the latest interests of his grandchildren, he made their interest his own in order to help both of them build their curiosity and sense of wonder.  He enjoyed people and his “gift of gab” made him an easy conversationalist on any of several subjects – just don’t ask him for directions!  With his focus on precision and detailed descriptions, they could sometimes take longer to describe than the trip itself!  He also loved classic rock - especially from the ‘80’s, and loved classic cars.

Those left to cherish Kevin’s memory include his wife, Elizabeth M. "Beth"  (Watts) Murphy; son, Ryan (Marella) Murphy, and daughters, Kayla and Jessica Murphy; there are two grandchildren, Lucas and Claire Murphy; his mother, Grace Mather; father and step-mother, Michael and Sue Murphy; sisters, Laura Murphy and Caroline Smith and his brother, Mike Murphy.

A Celebration of Life for Kevin will be hosted by his family on August 2, 2021 from 4:30-6:00 p.m. at the Lake Cable Club House in Canton, Ohio. Friends and family are welcomed to attend and casual attire is suggested.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon.
