John William "Bill" Hynd

John William “Bill” Hynd, 60, of Massillon, passed away quietly, Friday evening, February 26, 2021.  Born in Massillon, July 30, 1960, a son to the late John A. and Clotilde M. (Ganter) Hynd, Bill graduated from Washington High School and worked briefly at MCA Sign Company.  A life-member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bill lived simply, quietly and without pretense.  His face was a familiar one to downtown folk and he was a regular attendee at the summer concert series, the cruise-in and weekend car shows; you might catch him at the library or enjoying a bite at one of our local eateries.  He was never shy about his Tiger pride and tried to never miss a home football game.  He often caught the bus or rode with friends to some away games too!  Bill enjoyed his independence.  But when the stress and cares of the day bothered him, he found calm and safety with a few close friends.  Other times, he just enjoyed peace and quiet.  And when he wanted company, his social memberships included the Knights of Columbus and Fraternal Order of Eagles 190.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Clotilde “Cookie.”

Cremation has taken place.  There are no calling hours.  Extended family and friends will join Fr. Edward Gretchko to celebrate a Memorial Mass at St. Mary’s Church at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2021.  Bill will then be laid to rest beside his family at Oakwood Cemetery.  Not so much a “flowers” kind of guy, Bill might have preferred if, in his memory, you did something nice with your family, went for a walk, or performed a simple, random act of kindness.
