Jerrold L. “Jerry” Kemp, 73, of Massillon, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of the home he had recently shared with his son and his family, early Tuesday morning, October 29, 2024. His passing followed an extended period of declining health. Born in Massillon, August 11, 1951, a son to the late Edward C. and Marian (Sanders) Kemp, Jerry attended Tuslaw Local Schools and called Massillon home his entire life. He had been employed as a millwright by the former LTV Steel Corp. and retired as a field mechanic from Ashland/Marathon Petroleum Corp.
Following his retirement Jerry kept busy and enjoyed building trailers. He always loved the outdoors and any chance to get away to a favorite spot at Brewster Lake to relax with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, golf, and on-line gaming, especially WoW.
Jerry is predeceased by his mom and dad; a daughter, Connie; and his brothers, Edward Jr., Richard, and Jeff Kemp. He is survived by his children, Jeremiah (Mary/Cathy) Kemp, of Massillon, with whom he resided, Marissa (Matthew) Zavakos, of Kettering, Ohio, Ryan (Kerri) Kemp, of Frisco, Texas, and Brian (Amanda) Kemp, also of Massillon; his grandchildren, Alura, Jesse, Madison, Haileigh, Jeremy David, Delany, Ripley, Miley, Liam, Skylar, Maverick, Savannah, and Scarlet. Also surviving are Jerry’s brother, William Kemp, Sr., a special nephew, Cory Kemp; and a large circle of extended family and wonderful friends.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends will gather at an open house visitation to share condolences and happy memories beginning at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Team Jesus (Methodist) Church, 7096 Hills & Dales Road NW, Canton, Ohio 44708. The family extends their sincere thanks to the professional in-home staff of Crossroads Hospice for the dedicated and compassionate care Jerry had received.
Immediate arrangements have been entrusted to Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon. Your memories and condolences are always welcome and may be added here to Jerry’s on-line guestbook.
