James Timothy Emmons, 86, passed away September 30, 2018. He was the youngest of eleven children, born April 12, 1932, to Emmitt and Grace (Anglemyer) Emmons in his beloved North Hill. He resided for 54 years in Jackson Township with his wife, Maxine (Olson) and retired as general manager for the Massillon AAA Auto Club. Jim was a Korean War veteran, serving in the United States Navy, stationed in Norfolk, VA. Jim was extremely active in his community, acting as director of the Summit County blood program, past president of North Akron Kiwanis, Massillon Rotary, and a long-time member of First Christian Church in Massillon. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and countless lifelong friends. Jim’s infectious smile and big heart touched many lives over the course of his life. He had a song, magic trick, or story for everyone he met.
Preceded in death by parents Emmett and Grace Emmons, brothers and sisters, Victor, Paul, Esther, Marjorie, Mary, Martha, Robert, Richard, and Frances. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Maxine (Olson) Emmons; daughters Jamie (Craig) Boyd and Jennifer (Doug) Klingenberg; grandchildren Ashley Limbach (Andy) Strickland, Cassidy (Zac) Marietta, Kristian Limbach, Astrid, Anders, and Owen Klingenberg; great grandchildren Everett and Hawthorne Strickland and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will host calling hours from 3-5:00 p.m., Saturday, October 6, 2018, at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home, 26 Second Street NE, Massillon, OH 44646. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 7, at 1:00 p.m. at First Christian Church, 1020 Wales Road NE, Massillon, OH 44646. The family would like to thank the staff and residents of The Laurels in Massillon for his care in the last six months of life. We will forever be grateful for your compassion and care.
