Helen L. Joseph, 90, of Massillon, passed away peacefully, with her family at her side, Thursday afternoon, July 4, 2024. Born June 2, 1934, in Waynesburg, Ohio, a daughter to the late Robert and Bessie (Van Meter) Dieringer, Helen was a graduate of the former Waynesburg High School. She had worked at the Hoover Company before becoming a bus driver for Jackson Local Schools. Helen and her late husband, Cecil, both drove for Jackson for several years; and she had even had her own business for a time called Coaglen Kennels.
Helen enjoyed working while at the same time being a full-time wife, mom, and later, a grandma and great-grandma. She loved her husband and family dearly and was always a source of unconditional caring and support. When the job was done or when she could find some open time, and even more so in her retirement, Helen liked to relax by going shopping, playing BINGO, and visiting the area casinos to play the slots. She leaves behind lots of happy memories.
Preceded in death by her parents; by her husband Cecil J. Joseph, in 2009; her daughter, Debra J. Eckenrode, and son, Michael Dieringer; Helen is survived by her granddaughter, Robin M. (Marc) Luxenburg, of Massillon; great-grandchildren, Katelyn, and Marcus Luxenburg; and great-great-grandson, Colsen Luxenburg, all of the area. Also surviving is her sister, Mrs. Dorothy Krider, of East Canton.
In keeping with Helen’s wishes, cremation has taken place and the family will mark her passing with a private service and burial. Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon has been entrusted with arrangements.
Your memories and condolences are always welcome and may be added here to Helen’s on-line guestbook.
