Generosa "Jennie" Fernandez (Solis) Hanson

Generosa “Jennie” Fernandez Solis Hanson, 98, of Massillon, while surrounded by her loved ones and in the comfort of her home, passed away peacefully, into the arms of Jesus, on Saturday morning, September 21, 2024.  Born in Langeloth, Pennsylvania, June 8, 1926, a daughter to the late Benjamin and Josephine (Nell) Solis, the family relocated to Canton, Ohio where Jennie graduated from Canton McKinley High School with the Class of 1944.  She enrolled in the former Massillon City Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1947 (Class B), and had a wonderful career for many years as a private duty nurse.

She raised her family in Massillon.  She loved her family, and they adored her.

Jennie is preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband, Ralph L. Hanson – they married on June 22, 1947, and shared 65 years of marriage prior to his passing on August 30, 2012.  She is survived by her loving children, John Peter (Pat) Hanson, David Eric (Betsy) Hanson, Arlene Sharon Hanson, and Benjamin Walter Hanson (and Vickie Burke); her grandchildren, Eric Joseph (Charity) Hanson, Matthew Aaron (Cherie) Hanson, Maria Dawn (Mark) Pitts, Michael Lee (Lauren Mozer) Climer; and great-grandchildren, Scarlett Ann and Madelaine Mae Hanson, Atticus Ryan and Ireland Kate Pitts.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon.  Jennie’s son, John Peter “Pete” Hanson will officiate.  The family will receive condolences for one hour prior to the services, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., in the funeral home.
