Faye E. Houmard, 71, of Massillon, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 3, 2020. The daughter of the late Paul and Selma (Hurley) Crites, she was a lifelong resident of Massillon and a 1967 graduate of Washington High School where she had been a 3-Star member of the Tiger “Swing” Band drumline. Faye had worked for the former First Savings and Loan Company in Massillon and retired from Ohio Drilling Company following 25 years of service. An avid bowler and a member of the Massillon Women’s Bowling Association for more than 50 years, she was a volunteer director for the Massillon youth bowling program at Amherst Lanes and Sports Bowl in the 1980’s and ‘90’s. She was a former member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and a charter member of Faith Community Fellowship where she helped with the AWANA Ministry. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Faye was also an avid gardener and had a love for the outdoors including yard work. She also enjoyed spending time at the campground, being with family and friends, playing wallyball, vacationing at Myrtle Beach, going to Cleveland Indians games, watching OSU Football, and she was a 51-year season ticket holder for Massillon Tiger Football. She was a very loving, caring, compassionate, giving, hardworking and devoted wife, mother, sister and friend to many.
Predeceased by her parents; her in-laws, Marion and Irene Houmard and brother-in-law, Randall Houmard; Faye is survived by her husband of 50 years, Myron “Mynie” Houmard; and sons, Scott and Brad Houmard, all of Massillon; sister Jane (Ron) Shanor, brothers, Owen (Cora) Crites, Glen (Karen) Crites and Paul Crites (and special friend, Penny Scaffidi), all of Massillon; brother-in-law, Dennis (Sue) Houmard, of Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
