Dorothy May (Vargo) Stoneking

Dorothy M. Stoneking, 80, of Massillon, passed away peacefully, Sunday evening, February 27, 2022.  Born July 12, 1941, in Morgantown, West Virginia, a daughter to the late Joe Vargo and Dorothy (McIntyre) Vargo, Dorothy had been a homemaker and an area resident for most of her adult life.  A loving and supportive wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma, she placed her husband and family at the center of her life.  Whether it was a call to baby-sit, make a favorite meal, a special birthday, holiday, or some other family event, Dorothy would be ready to go, ready to do, ready to help; the first one to arrive and the last to leave.  She always found comfort in the company of her family and friends.  In her leisure time she enjoyed reading and loved to dance.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald L. Stoneking, Sr., sisters, Sandra and Janice; and brothers, Kevin and Junior; Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Melinda J. Baker, and sons, Robert A. (Denise), Donald L. Jr., and Marty R. Stoneking, all of the area.  Also surviving are five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Mrs. Dru Swanson, of New Jersey.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service has been planned for 11:00 Friday morning, March 11, 2022, at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon.  Chaplain David O. Kling, of Crossroads Hospice will officiate and a private burial will follow at Brookfield Cemetery.  There are no calling hours.
