Donna May Agler, our beloved mother and grandmother, sister, and aunt, following a rich and purposeful life, passed away gently, early Wednesday morning, August 13, 2025. Born October 26, 1926, a daughter to the late John and Mary (Holman) Define, Sr., Donna was one of nine children. She graduated from the former Navarre High School with the Class of 1944 and remained a Navarre resident her entire life. In May 1950, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard Agler, and they were together for 44 years, before his passing in 1994. Donna worked on-and-off in the offices of Nickles Bakery but was primarily a home maker and a stay-at-home mom. She created a warm and loving home for her husband and their daughter – and a large extended family, filling it with grace, laughter, and happy memories. Being a wife, mom, and grandma was what made her sparkle and brought her true joy!
A life-long and faithful member of St. Clement Church, Donna was active in parish life. She and her sister-in-law, Phyllis Define were dedicated prayer warriors. Intentions great and small from family, friends, and strangers were surrounded with special tenderness and uplifted in prayer.
In her leisure time, Donna enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. Mowing the grass brought joy.
Predeceased by her parents; her husband, Richard D. Agler; and siblings, Orletta, Issabelle, Lucille, John Jr., Vincent, William, and Robert; Donna is survived by her daughter, Dr. Denise Preusser, of Canton, grandson, Matthew Preusser, of Dover, and sister, Mrs. Mary Lou McCreery.
Family and friends will join Fr. J. Patrick Manning for a Mass of the Resurrection in celebration and thanksgiving for Donna’s life and legacy, at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Holy Family Parish at St. Clement Church, 216 Wooster St. NE, Navarre, Ohio 44662. Burial will follow in East Union Lawn Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
The family extends a most sincere thank you to the staff and residents of University Village, to Crossroads Hospice, and Donna’s Jacob Street neighbors for the friendship, gentle attention, and compassionate care she received. In lieu of flowers, they have suggested memorial contributions made to either, the Alzheimer’s Association, 408 – 9th St. SW, Canton, Ohio 44707-4714 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Your memories and condolences are always welcome and may be added here to Donna’s on-line guestbook.
