Deborah Jean Hurst, 72, of Massillon, passed away gently while surrounded by her family, in the comfort of her home, Monday afternoon, May 25, 2026. Born in Summerville, West Virginia, January 6, 1954, a daughter to the late Oscar and Lucille (Foster) Crawford, Debbie graduated from Fairless High School with the Class of 1972. She retired from Brewster Dairy.
Coming from a larger family herself, her home, husband and family were the center of her world. Even while working full-time, Debbie created a safe and comfortable home and filled it with warmth, fun and happy memories – especially for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A devoted wife and a loving and supportive mom and step-mom, she saw to the needs of her family and did her best to be there, to lend a hand, have a meal ready, babysit or just call to “check in.”
In her leisure time, Debbie enjoyed working in her flower garden and the company of her fur pal, “Teddy.”
Predeceased by her mom and dad, and her sisters, Lou Crawford, Patricia Colucci and Katherine Crawford Wolf; Debbie is survived by her husband, Steven W. Hurst, of the home, sons, Kirk (Monica) Bridenbaugh and Kirt Bridenbaugh, all of Navarre, step-sons, Timothy, Branden (Emerly), Joshua and Jeremy (Lilly) Hurst, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, her sisters, JoAnn Bunyan and Sharon Woodcock, and her brother, Dale Crawford (and Beverly).
The family will receive condolences on Thursday evening, May 28, 2026, from 7-8:00 p.m. at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon. A brief prayer service will close the hour and cremation will follow.
