Coleen J. Duke, 83, of Navarre, passed away peacefully, while surrounded by her family, Wednesday afternoon, July 12, 2023. Born in Clarksburg, West Virginia, March 29, 1940, Coleen had been an area resident nearly all her life. She attended Canton McKinley High School and had worked as a dietician at Altercare Navarre. A loving and devoted wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma, she attended Canton Baptist Temple where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. Coleen always found pleasure and purpose in doing for her family. She loved birthdays and holidays, especially Christmas, when she could cook and bake and host family dinners. She was a devoted Elvis fan, loved gospel music, and trips to Canada to visit Niagara Falls and try her luck in the casinos.
Predeceased by her parents, Harold L. and Henrietta V. (Weil) Grimes; her husband, Donald E. Duke, Sr.; a granddaughter, Amy Curley; and two step-brothers, David and Dennis Hoague; Coleen is survived by her children, Don (Cheryl) Duke, Jr., of Beach City, Tim (Yumiko) Duke, of Massillon, Mike Duke, of Navarre, Janice (Michael) Ibosh, of Batavia, Ohio, and Jeff (Joy) Duke, also of Massillon. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Alberta Patterson, of Canton.
The family will mark Coleen’s passing with private, graveside service. There are no calling hours. A more fitting celebration of her life, open to all, is being planned for a later date. Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Navarre has been entrusted with arrangements. Your memories and condolences may be added to her on-line guestbook.
