Charles E. “Junior” Adams, Jr., 77, of Navarre, a beloved husband, dad, grandpa, and brother, passed away in the comfort of his home with his wife at his side, on Tuesday morning, December 6, 2022. Born in Massillon, on August 27, 1945, a son to the late Charles E. and Sophie A. (Majcan) Adams, Sr., Junior graduated from Canton Central Catholic High School with the Class of 1963. He retired from the former LTV/Republic Engineered Steel Corp. where he had worked as a sheet metal fabricator. A member of St. Clement/Holy Family Parish in Navarre, Junior was an undeniably hard worker and a responsible steward of all he had been given. He worked well with his hands and could figure out almost any mechanical problem and create a working solution. A devoted husband, a loving and supportive dad, and a mischievous and fun-loving grandpa, he set his faith and his family at the center of his life. In an earlier day he enjoyed competitive flat track motorcycle racing; punishing his body and his machines in the process, but rarely coming home without a trophy. More recently, he spent his leisure time gardening, teasing and spoiling his grandsons, and riding more for pleasure, but still enjoying the exhilaration of the outdoors and the open road. He was particularly proud of the time he spent volunteering to build the original Fred Bridewiser Stadium at Fairless High School as a part of the Athletic Complex Team. He spent hours holding court with a close circle of friends who gathered in his shed to watch Cleveland sports or NASCAR while sharing a beer (or two) and fixing anything they brought him to fix. He never met a stranger and would offer help anytime it was needed.
Predeceased by his parents, and a brother-in-law, Fred Ludwig; Junior is survived by his wife, Marilyn J. (Poth) Adams, of the home; their daughter, Gretchen (Matthew) Bagley, of Navarre and their son, Matthew (Kara Penniman) Adams, of Columbus. Also surviving are five grandsons: Andrew (Libby), Arin, and Alec Bagley and Ben and Oliver Adams; and his sisters, Kathleen Ludwig and Marsha Fogle, both of Navarre.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish Church in Navarre at a date and time to be announced once plans have been finalized. Your memories and condolences are always welcome and may be added to our on-line guestbook on the Tribute Wall.
