Brenda S. Thompson, 64, of Navarre, passed away quietly, while surrounded by her family, and in the comfort of her home, early Thursday morning, August 17, 2023. Born in Massillon, September 13, 1958, a daughter to the late Robert and Nancy (Fetters) Alpeter, Brenda graduated from Fairless High School with the Class of 1976. She had been employed as a letter carrier, working out of the Navarre Village post office for more than thirty years. A devoted wife and a loving and supportive mom, grandma, great-grandma and aunt, Brenda created a safe and welcoming home for her husband and family. She made a point of being there for her grandchildren; cheering and encouraging each of them at their sporting events and keeping current with all of their activities. A life member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Navarre, Brenda was a woman of quiet faith, grace and courage. She was tough. Even as her illness progressed, she battled back as hard as she knew how and gave the rest to God. She had a knack for decorating – especially at the holidays, so the house and the post office would look their best. She also belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of the former Bethlehem Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Predeceased by her parents; her husband Price David “Dave” Thompson, Jr.; daughter, Kathy Sue Thompson and granddaughter, Briel Thompson; Brenda is survived by her sons, David (Stacy) Thompson, of Navarre, Jeremy (Beth) Thompson, of Massillon, and Ron (Tara) Thompson, of Navarre. Also surviving are ten grandchildren; two great-grandsons; her brother, Tim (Diane) Alter, of Navarre; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Janice M. Kieffer, also of Navarre; and an extended family including several nieces and nephews.
The family will mark Brenda’s passing with a graveside service celebrating her life, at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 25, 2023, at Union Lawn Cemetery in Navarre. Rev. Dennis Landaw, pastor of St. Paul UCC will officiate. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. There are no calling hours. Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Navarre has been entrusted with arrangements. Your memories and condolences are always welcome and may be added to her on-line guestbook.
