Bette M. Mizer, age 102, of Canton Christian Home, formerly of Perry Twp., entered into God’s Eternal Care on March 15, 2018. Bette was born in Bergholz, Ohio, November 11, 1915, to the late John H. and Mollie (Marshall) Morrow. She was a proud 1933 graduate of Bergholz High School and attended Canton Actual Business College and Malone College. Bette retired in 1987 from the Stark County Family Court. She was an esteemed member of Perry Christian Church from its inception and an 80 year member of Order of Eastern Star, Legacy Chapter Lodge. Bette was a renowned baseball and football fan having attended numerous World Series games and loyally supported her Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians through thick and thin. She was a revered volunteer at the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Canton Christian Home, Perry Police Department and Perry Local Schools, as well as the author of “Senior Moments,” an entertaining column in the Perryite for many years. Bette earned a variety of tremendous accolades throughout her life including selection as the Grand Marshall of the Perry Township Bicentennial Parade in 2014. Once you met Bette, you rarely forgot this dynamic woman who lived each day to its fullest. She was truly "one of a kind!" Her beloved husband of 31 years, Karl E. Mizer, passed away in 2006. Surviving are her daughter, Janine H. Sherman and husband, Daniel, of Gettysburg, PA, son, James L. Hill, of Modesto, CA, stepdaughter Karla M. Friday and husband, Dr. James Friday, of Canton, GA; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2018, at Perry Christian Church, 139 Perry Drive NW, in Canton. Her sisters of Legacy Chapter Lodge will honor Bette with an Eastern Star service in the church at 9:15 a.m. The family will then receive condolences one hour prior to the service, from 10-11:00 a.m. in the church. A private burial will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Memorials are suggested to Perry Christian Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon.
