Albert Wohlwend, DDS Obituary

Albert W. Wohlwend, DDS, 72, of Navarre, following a life of service to the nation and to his neighbors, and with his wife and family at his side, passed away in the comfort of his home, early Monday afternoon, January 18, 2021.  Born April 27, 1948, in Suffield, Ohio, a son to the late Joseph P. and Helen E. (Klein) Wohlwend, Albert graduated from Field High School with the Class of 1965.  A decorated combat veteran, he served honorably in Vietnam as a Staff Sergeant with the US Army’s 173rd Airborne Brigade.  Following his time in the service, he returned to college and received his dentistry degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1979.  His general dentistry practice in the Village of Navarre began that same year and operated until 1993.

A devoted husband and a loving and supportive dad and grandpa, Albert was a faithful and active member of St. Clement/Holy Family Parish in Navarre, having served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and holding membership in the Knights of Columbus.  His other memberships included the Navarre VFW Post 5047 and Beach City American Legion Post 549.

An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and fish; enjoyed boating, scuba diving and sporting clays.  As a licensed firearms instructor, Albert taught and trained thousands of students, intent on obtaining an Ohio Concealed Carry Permit.  His interests were many.  Enthusiastic about them all; passionate about a few, but none more than his family.  Their lives, their choices, their accomplishments, their passions are what gave him purpose and, especially his grandchildren, what brought him joy.

Predeceased by his parents; his sisters, Agnes and Mary; brothers, George and Bill – and brother, James, who died in infancy; Albert is survived by his wife, Kathryn J. (Turner) Wohlwend, of the home; sons, Eric M. (Lila) Wohlwend, of East Sparta, Glen Huskey, of Massillon, Gregory A. (Ashley) Wohlwend, of Seville, and daughter, Amber D. Huskey (and James Faber), of Massillon; grandchildren, Race, Kaid, Deven, Ethan, Lucas and Matthew; his sisters, Rose (Ralph), Irene and Jane (Frank) and brothers, Harry (Anita) and Joe (Becky), all of Suffield; and sister-in-law, Mrs. Elaine Wohlwend.

The family will mark Albert’s passing privately with a Funeral Mass and burial with military honors.  There are no calling hours.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Legion, Weimer-Widder Post 549, PO Box 205, Beach City, Ohio 44608.  Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Navarre has been entrusted with arrangements.  Your memories and condolences are always welcome and may be added to our on-line guestbook at www.atkinsonfeucht.com.
