Afroditi Spao, 89, of Massillon, passed away peacefully at her residence with her family at her side, early Saturday morning, March 17, 2018. Born in Kastoria, Greece, April 18, 1928, a daughter to the late Theodore and Cleopatra Zisi, Afroditi was a homemaker; a loving wife and a wonderful mother, grandmother and aunt. A member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Massillon, she placed her faith and her family at the center of her life. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Predeceased by her parents, three sisters and two brothers; Afroditi is survived by her husband, Lytfi A. “Nick” Spao, of the residence; her daughter, Demitra M. “Gina” Spao and granddaughter, Jullie Sorensen, both of New Port Richey, Florida; nephew, Edward (Mimoza) Spao; great-nephews, Lysien Spao, MD and Alis Spao, MD and sister-in-law, Hatixhe Spao, all of Benson, North Carolina as well as many dear neighbors and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, March 20, 2018, at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon. Rev. Fr. C.G. Shiepis will officiate and entombment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Mausolem. The family will receive condolences thirty minutes prior to the service, from 10-10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning in the funeral home.
