Terry W. Emig, 76, of Massillon, completed his earthly journey early Tuesday morning, May 8, 2018.  Born in Massillon, April 21, 1942, a son to the late Erman D. and Pauline (Cameron) Emig, Terry graduated from Washington High School with the Class of 1960.  He attended Ohio University prior to enlisting in the US Navy where he served honorably as an electrician (EM3) aboard the USS Proteus (AS-19).  Terry worked as a lineman and service technician for the former Ohio Bell Telephone Co. and retired from Ameritech.  A loving and supportive dad, grandpa and brother and a true and loyal friend, he placed his family at the center of his life.  He was instrumental in creating, developing and maintaining the Emig Sports Complex at Tuslaw High School, honoring his son, Curtis who passed away in 1989, while a student athlete at Tuslaw; and his father, “Lefty” Emig.  Terry enjoyed coaching baseball and softball in his leisure time, along with fishing for perch and walleye, mushroom hunting and following OSU football.  He was also a skilled handy man and loved to cook.  His social memberships included the Eagles and the Moose.
Predeceased by his parents and son; Terry is survived by his daughters, Stefanie J. (Keith) Moser and Carolyn M. Ganoe (and Troy Haren); grandchildren, Kyle and Kaden Moser and Jordan and Ian Ganoe, all of Massillon.  Also surviving are his sister, Carol (Daniel) Hartong, of Monroe, Michigan; brother, William E. (Kathy) Emig, of Massillon and his former wife of 30 years, Jeri Emig, of Massillon.  Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 Friday morning, May 11, 2018, at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon.  Burial with military honors will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens  The family will receive condolences Thursday evening, May 10, from 6-8:00 in the funeral home.  The family has requested no additional flowers, suggesting instead that memorial contributions be made in care of the Tuslaw Athletic Booster Club with “Emig Complex” in the memo and sent to the attention of David Burkett , Athletic Director at Tuslaw High School.
