Rocky Brown Obituary

Rocky Alan Brown, 72, formerly of Massillon and more recently of Corona, California, passed away following an extended illness on Sunday, December 23, 2018.  Born April 18, 1946, a son to Norman and Laura (Noland) Brown, Rocky grew up in Massillon and graduated from Washington High School with the Class of 1964.  He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Indorf, and they shared a life together until her passing in 2003.  An honorably discharged Army veteran, Rocky saw service in Vietnam.  His experience with computers and mechanical processes translated into a 40-year career with Morris Material Handling that took him around the world as a senior field technician, programming cranes and other heavy lifting and moving equipment in all kinds of applications.  He enjoyed his work – but he loved to relax and he and Barbara – and later, just Rocky himself, would return to the area as often as he could to visit and maybe share a meal or two with old friends.  His practical attitude and easy, unpretentious style made him a great friend and enjoyable company.  Social media enabled him to keep in touch when he couldn’t be there in person and fishing – especially in the mountain lakes of southern California, was a favorite pastime.

Both of his parents have passed away and Rocky and Barb had no children but his sister, Connie Brown Thomas, her husband, Glenn, and their children survive.  Their home is in South Carolina.  Rocky also has an extended family of dear friends, classmates and workmates who will continue to hold fond memories of their friend.

At his own request, no formal funeral services were held.  Rocky was laid to rest beside his mom and dad in a private burial conducted Friday, January 4, 2019, at Union Lawn Cemetery in Navarre.
