Robert Weaver Obituary

It is with the mixed emotions of heartfelt sadness and deep joy that we, the family of Robert Allen Weaver, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandpa and great-grandpa, announce the news of his passing from our midst and on to his eternal reward.  Following a long illness, Bob died late Tuesday evening, August 8, 2017, at the age of 81.
Born in Marietta, Ohio, July 5, 1936, a son to the late Lisle C. and Alvena P. (Woodford) Weaver-Arnold, Bob graduated from Marietta High School with the Class of 1954.  Soon afterward he met and married a Massillon girl and he and Tootie, his bride of 61 years, made their home on the city’s southeast side.  Together they raised their family while Bob worked in production planning for the former Enduro Stainless Division of Republic Steel.  A man of quiet faith, Bob’s life was centered on his wife and family.  A gifted athlete in younger days, he was a standout basketball player.  He enjoyed watching and listening to the Tigers, the Buckeyes and all of the Cleveland sports teams.  A NASCAR fan, he also loved traveling and camping with the family and more recently, enjoyed Karaoke singing – as the star of “The Bob Weaver Show.”  He particularly enjoyed the old Country songs from the 1960’s, as he said, “When country was country and not pop music.”
Predeceased by his parents; brother, Lyle E. Weaver; sister, Lois A. Weaver Swaney; and a niece, Linda L. Swaney Ward; Bob is survived by his wife, Winnona M. “Tootie” (Friend) Weaver; his son, William K. “Bill” (Gene Stine) Weaver; daughters, Karen J. Boatright, Robin A. (Carl) Lantzer and Patricia M. “Patti” Gurule, all of Massillon.  Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 14 – soon to be 15 great-grandchildren; a niece, Sandra K. Swaney (Jay) Charlton, of Perry Twp; and a nephew, Terry (Linda) Weaver, of Jacksonville, Florida, all of whom he loved very much.
We will gather to celebrate the life of Bob Weaver at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon.  Dad’s friend, Dr. Cecil Thayer will bring the message and burial will follow at St. Joseph Parish Cemetery.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
The family wishes to thank Drs. Jennifer Tarr and Inderjeet Brar, the Emergency Dept., ICU, 2100 and 2200 Unit Care Teams at Affinity Medical Center for the dedicated and compassionate care that Bob received.
