Robert Paul Chovan, Sr., 80, of Massillon, passed away quietly Sunday evening, October 21, 2018. Born in Massillon, April 15, 1938, a son to the late Matthew and Susan (Sirotiak) Chovan, Robert graduated from Washington High School with the Class of 1956. A member of St. John Lutheran Church, he was self-employed as a farmer and mechanic. Always at his best while enjoying the company of family and friends, he especially enjoyed the family farm where he was born and where he and his family and friends would spend many, many happy hours.
Predeceased by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Ruth E. (Cole) Chovan; a son, Robert, Jr., three sisters and two brothers; Robert is survived by his son, David M. (Sherri) Chovan, of Marengo, Ohio; three grandchildren and their spouses; two great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Eleanor Grunden, of Massillon and Dorothy (Roy) Seibert, of Warren, Ohio.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2018, at St. John Lutheran Church. Rev. John L. Telloni will officiate. The family will receive condolences one hour prior to the service, from 10-11:00 a.m. in the church and a time of fellowship will follow the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon.
