No longer “through a glass, darkly;” but now, at last, she has beheld her Savior face to face -
Lois C. Dodd, of Massillon, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, May 27, 2019, at the age of 86. Born November 12, 1932, in Smithville, West Virginia, a daughter to the late Norval and Genieve (Hardman) Waide, Lois lived most of her adult life in the Massillon area. A faithful and active member of First Baptist Church of Massillon, Lois was a woman of dignity, grace and abiding faith. A mother of five, she retired after 33 years with the former Central States Can Company in Massillon. Even though her days were often very full, her entire family knew her love for each of them was genuine, generous and unconditional. Without hesitation, as it often goes with the best of moms, she would willingly put aside her own needs so one of her children or someone else in the extended family would have all that they needed.
Preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sherry Lynn Dodd and her sons, Freddie Eugene Dodd and Denver Owen Dodd; Lois is survived by her daughters, Rita (Fred) Wanstreet, of Pennsboro, West Virginia and Lois Ann “Dee Dee” (Keith) Snider, of Denver, Colorado; her grandchildren and several nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory and remember her often.
Family and friends will gather for a memorial service at 11:00 Saturday morning, June 1, 2019, in the mausoleum chapel at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Massillon. Dr. Roger Alber will officiate and a private burial will follow. The family has suggested memorial contributions made to advance the mission and ministry of First Baptist Church of Massillon. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon.
