Jeffrey W. Sickman, 61, of Massillon, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 18, 2017. Born in Massillon September 15, 1955, a son to the late Maurice H. and Mildred D. (Martz) Sickman, Jeff graduated from Washington High School with the Class of 1974. While in high school Jeff was a three-year member of the Tiger Sharks swim team and lettered in his senior year. The morning after graduation he began his career with Republic Steel Corp. in Canton. Having just completed his forty-third year of faithful service, he was looking forward to his retirement. Jeff also looked forward to returning to his favorite vacation spots in Mexico – an annual event that was always carefully planned months in advance and he always took pride and found satisfaction in maintaining a well-trimmed lawn.
Predeceased by his parents; his sister, Bonnie L. Sickman Davenport; and a niece, Tracey Davenport; Jeff is survived by his best friend and life partner, Ellen Hill, of New Franklin, Ohio and her sons, Brian Hill, of Cannonsburg, PA and Kevin Hill, of Canal Fulton; his nephew, Scott (Carla) Davenport, of Akron; brother-in-law, Terry Davenport, of Massillon; and two great-nephews.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Jeff’s life with an informal “open house” at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon on Wednesday evening, July 26, 2017, from 5-7:00 p.m. with a service beginning at 7:00 p.m. A private burial will take place at Brookfield Cemetery.
