Ella Mae Nealy, 85, of Massillon, entered into the presence of her Savior on Monday morning, January 8, 2018. Born March 14, 1932, in Ruby, South Carolina, a daughter to the late Dorsey and Mary (McBride) Smith, Sr., Ella was a faithful member of First Christian Church in Massillon and retired from the housekeeping department of Aultman Hospital following 21 years of service. She remained active throughout her retirement, taking classes in general nursing and patient care at St. John’s Villa in Carrollton before becoming a caregiver to the elderly and infirm through the auspices of Catholic Charities. In her leisure time she loved to shop.
Predeceased by her parents; her husband, William Nealy; sisters, Magnolia, Irene and Willie Smith, and brother, J.D. Smith; Ella is survived by her sisters, Ruby and Clara Smith, both of Baltimore, Maryland and Marie McKlesky, of Akron; brothers, Brady Smith, of Charlotte, North Carolina and Eddie and Dorsey Smith, Jr., both also of Baltimore. Additional survivors include a large extended family of beloved nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
Home going services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at First Christian Church in Massillon. Pastor Steven Gower will officiate and private mausoleum entombment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive condolences one hour prior to the service, from 10-11:00 Tuesday morning, in the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atkinson Feucht Hare in Massillon.
