Donna Faye (Switzer) Tsocheff

Donna Faye Switzer Tsocheff, 89, of Akron, formerly of Massillon, passed away quietly at her residence on Sunday morning, October 15, 2017.  Born in Massillon November 12, 1927, a daughter to the late Donis and Florence (Shilling) Switzer, Donna graduated from Washington High School with the Class of 1945.  She met her husband, John, while in high school, but they didn’t start dating until they met again at a dance in Massillon following the end of World War II.  They married on April 15, 1947, and enjoyed 70 years together.  They had owned and operated the former Holiday Motel in Massillon for twenty years before building their home on Akron’s Portage Lakes in 1977.  Although their new home was in Akron, their hearts never left Massillon.  Donna enjoyed caring for her yard and flower beds – especially red roses; baking, travel, collecting all kinds of “goodies,” sharing boat rides and meals with friends, the Rubber Capital Harmonica Club, the American Legion Auxiliary and their meals, Red Hat Ladies Society, things that sparkle, her dogs and in later years, her cats.  While always living with a pool or on the lake, she never learned to swim but always enjoyed paddle and pontoon boats.
Predeceased by her parents; a son, Lee Roy Tsocheff and her sister, Janice Smith; Donna is survived by her husband, John Tsocheff and their son, Terry (Harriet) Tsocheff; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 20, 2017, at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon.  Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service, from 1-2:00 p.m. in the funeral home.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Summa Hospice - 444 North Main Street, Akron, Ohio  44310 or Massillon American Legion Post 221 - 427 Lincoln Way East, Massillon, Ohio  44646
