Donald L. Fahrni, 64, of Massillon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 2, 2017. Born in Massillon, May 23, 1953, to Albert and Ruth (Putt) Fahrni, Don was a caring son, devoted husband and a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, especially their trips to the beach. He was a 1971 graduate of Washington High School and received an Associate Degree of Applied Business in Computer Technology from Stark State College and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management from Malone University, publishing an inventory tracking book to complete his degree. Don was employed by Kraft Heinz for over 20 years before retiring as a cost accountant in 2015. He was a charter member of Faith Community Fellowship in Massillon, serving in many roles throughout the church including Elder, Expansion Team Member, Awana Program and Sunday school teacher, intercessor and member of the Visitation Team. Don went to Haiti on a mission trip in 2015, to upgrade school facilities and equipment. His volunteer work in the church and the community earned him the Jefferson Award for Public Service.
Preceded in death by his father, Albert L. Fahrni, Don is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nancy E. (Witczak) Fahrni and their children, Matt (Lisa) Fahrni, Scott Fahrni and Tiffany (Dave) Liebermann; and grandchildren, Alexis, Zachary, Jacob and Elliana. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Ruth H. Fahrni; brother, Terry (Sharon) Fahrni and sisters, Valerie (Walter) Pippin, Gloria (John) Baker and Tammy (Darrel) Lawson.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Community Fellowship, 1303 – 9th Street SW, Massillon, Ohio. Calling hours will be held in the church Tuesday evening, August 8, from 6-8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday morning thirty minutes prior to the service, from 9:30 – 10:00. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Massillon. The family has suggested memorial contributions made in care of Faith Community Fellowship to advance the mission and ministry of the church.
