Dale H. Resh, 95, of Navarre, passed away quietly Friday morning, May 18, 2018. Born November 2, 1922, in Navarre, Dale graduated from the former Navarre High School with the Class of 1940. An honorably discharged veteran of the Army Air Corps he was assigned to the 20th Air Force, serving in the south Pacific and earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. He completed undergraduate studies at Kent State University and received a bachelor’s degree in education in 1950. His 35-year teaching and coaching career began at Uniondale School in Harrison County, Ohio; included several years with Fairless Local Schools where he usually taught social studies and government; and finished at Lake Local Schools in Uniontown.
A loving husband and a devoted dad and grandpa, Dale placed his wife and family at the center of his life. Together they enjoyed all kinds of road trips and vacationed in nearly every state, most often to Florida or somewhere out west. He enjoyed traveling, along with baseball and golf.
Dale is survived by his wife of 63 years, Grace Joanne (Gottsman) Resh and their daughters, Lisa Hunter, of Canton, Lori (Thomas) McInnes, of Canal Fulton and Leslie (Dennis) Doney, of Dover; grandchildren, Samantha Nixon, of Akron, Brandon Resh and Dana Hunter, both of Canton and Chelsie Doney, of Dover; and a large extended family.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Navarre. The family will receive condolences one hour prior to the service, from 10:30-11:30 in the funeral home. Military honors will close the service and a private burial in Union Lawn Cemetery will take place at a later date.
