Cleo Ann Kilgore, 84, of Navarre, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, December 21, 2018. Born in Navarre, May 18, 1934, a daughter to the late John and Emeilia (Warstler) Nofsinger, Cleo graduated from the former Navarre High School with the Class of 1952. She worked briefly for Ecko Products Co. in Canton as well as in the offices and the retail store of Nickles Bakery in Navarre. While at Nickles, she met and married her husband, Prentice Kilgore, and they shared more than 60 years together prior to his passing just a year ago. A loving and devoted wife and mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister and aunt, Cleo was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Navarre. She and her husband were accomplished travelers. They enjoyed travel in group tours, as a couple and with the family. But even after having seen much of the world, they always looked forward to coming home. More recently, she renewed her skill with needle and thread and found enjoyment and relaxation in quilting and other handwork.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Prentice Wayne Kilgore; five brothers and three sisters; Cleo is survived by her children, Terri Lynn (Kent) Veitinger, of Columbia, SC and Donald Wayne Kilgore (Corrine Lewis) of Navarre; grandchildren, Nicole Veitinger (James) Flaherty, of Columbus, Craig Veitinger, of Denver, CO, and Dustin M. and Adam M. Kilgore, of Navarre, and her great-granddaughter, Avery Flaherty. Also surviving are her sisters, Mrs. Rose E. Whitmore, of Navarre and Mrs. Pauline (Lloyd) Palmer, of Michigan and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Cleo Ann Kilgore will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018, at St. Paul UCC in Navarre. Pastor Brent Gundlah will officiate and burial will follow in Union Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive condolences one hour prior to the service, from 10-11:00 a.m. in the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Navarre.
