Charles V. Host, 74, of Massillon, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home and with his family at his side, on Saturday morning, January 20, 2018. Born in Kingwood, West Virginia, January 6, 1944, a son to the late Charles H. and Mary G. (Collins) Host, he was known as Victor or Vic to his family and friends. He retired from Asplundh Tree Services following 32 years of safe and faithful service and as an active member of Hope Outreach Ministries, Victor happily served his faith community as often and as ably as he could. He was also an avid fisherman who always found joy in the experience of fishing – even when the “catching” part was less than he planned. He also enjoyed grilling outdoors.
Preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Nikohl Stewart; two brothers and a sister; Victor is survived by his wife, Kathy (Heid) Host; daughters, Laura Stewart and Sabrina Douglas, all of Massillon, and son, Shawn Douglas, of Louisville, Ohio; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon. Pastor Marilyn Roman of Hope Outreach Ministries will officiate and a private burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive condolences one hour prior to the services Wednesday morning, from 11-12:00, in the funeral home. They have also suggested that memorial contributions in Victor’s name may be made to advance the mission and ministry of Hope Outreach Ministries, 2354 Mahoning Road NE, Canton, Ohio 44705.
