Camille J. (DuPree) Leslie died of melanoma cancer on June 28, 2018. She was 71. Though she was extremely conscientious about having the moles on her skin regularly examined by a dermatologist, like many people, she did not know that a dermatologist should also look for moles on a patient’s scalp under the hair, and inexplicably, none of the dermatologists did this who examined her over the years. Hopefully, this information will serve as a beneficial warning for some readers.
Camille was born in Griffin, GA, on Sept. 11, 1946 and raised there. She graduated from St. Andrews Presbyterian College with a double major in English and Spanish. All her adult life she loved to read literature and study the Spanish language. She earned a M.L.S. from the University of Maryland. Among other positions she held, she was the Brooke County, W. VA Library Director for three years and the Massillon Public Library Director for 29 years. She was an extraordinarily kind, gentle, and decent woman. A member of Central Presbyterian Church, she was a devout Christian and had great integrity. She loved dogs and was fascinated and often delighted by birds and other woodland creatures. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Edward Earl Leslie of Massillon, and a sister, Jo Anne Sprayberry of Griffin. Due to her husband’s allergies, no flowers please. Instead consider a donation to the Massillon Public Library, Central Presbyterian Church or another charity.
Visitation will be Monday (today) 6-8 p.m. at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon. Funeral services will be Tuesday 1 p.m., conducted by Pastor Larry Lalama at First Baptist Church located at 20 6th Street SE, Massillon, Ohio. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
