Bernard O. Hester, 69, of Massillon, passed away unexpectedly at his home early Tuesday morning, January 1, 2019. Born in Canton, January 6, 1949, a son to the late Oscar and Etta (Davis) Hester, Bernie attended Canton Lincoln High School. He earned his living as a crane operator with the former Republic Steel Corp. in Massillon and retired following 34 years of faithful service. A Massillon resident throughout his adult life, Bernie was a great fan of Tiger football and a long-suffering fan of the Browns. A loving husband and a great dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and brother and a loyal friend to many, Bernie will be missed by all who knew him.
Preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and a brother; he is survived by his wife, Ann (Adams) Hester and their children, Mark Hester, Lisa Rider, Charlene (Craig) Turkalj and Kraigg Hoffman, all from Massillon. Also surviving are his four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two sisters, four brothers and his beloved fur buddy, Max.
Family and friends will gather informally to share their best memories and celebrate Bernie’s life on Sunday afternoon, January 6, 2019, from 2-4:00 p.m. at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon.
