Benny F. Harper, 83, of Tuscarawas Twp., passed away quietly early Tuesday morning, April 10, 2018. Born in Beckley, West Virginia, June 29, 1934, a son to the late Benjamin and Macie (Bailey) Harper, Benny was an honorably discharged veteran of the US Army who earned his living as a truck driver, retiring after more than thirty years of safe and faithful service to Superior Brand Meats and Fresh Mark Inc. A faithful and active member of Southwest Church of Christ in Canton, the church community held a very special place in his heart. He loved the time he spent with family and friends; enjoying the outdoors, hunting, bowling and playing golf.
Predeceased by his parents and ten brothers and sisters; Benny is survived by his wife, Ruth A. (Anker) Harper, of the residence; son, Steven Harper, of Waynesburg and daughter, Debbie Harper Bennett. Also surviving is a large extended family including several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, his sister, Delora Harper Dillon, of Beckley, West Virginia and brother, John Harper, of Justus, Ohio.
Funeral services will be conducted at the noon hour on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon. Evangelist John Ahmed will officiate and burial with military honors will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive condolences Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
